Passive Resonant Sensors: Trends and Future Prospects

Sensors based on “resonance phenomenon” span a broad spectrum of important current applications including detection biological and chemical agents, measurements physical quantities. Resonance phenomena occur with all types waves: electromagnetic, optic, acoustic. This review reports about the most recent advances in design resonant “passive” sensors, i.e. sensors able to operate distant power source and/or communicate transceiver. The considered this include acoustic, magnetoelastic, electromagnetic transducers. They are presented through their relevant technological aspects they major advantages which integrability within embedded systems requiring energy autonomy. Furthermore, use these is illustrated large variety applications, ranging from environmental monitoring, structural health food packaging wearable or implanted for monitoring physiological parameters healthcare related IoT future industry applications.
